Sam grew up surrounded by rocks in California. Whether it’s massive granite walls in Yosemite or small rocks that blanket a river bed - they’ve always been a source of inspiration and grounding. Drawn in by their colors and textures, Sam is known for collecting rocks and collecting photos of them. Her camera rolls, pockets and bags overflow. For the Love of Rocks grew out of a desire to create a tangible reference for the photos she keeps coming back to. It’s a collection that gets up close and personal with the rocks, inviting you to notice their details and a moment in time.

Sam is an Oakland-based artist and curator whose creative practice often takes shape through words, photography, and spaces in her community. She is known for creating spaces that encourage sharing, connection, and collaboration.
